How to measure

Waist: Measure around where you normally wear your shorts. Keep the tape comfortably snug without pulling it tight.

Length: This is the outseam measurement — from the top of the waistband down to the bottom hem.

No tape measure? Use a piece of string, then measure the string with a ruler.

Sizing explained

Why your shorts size and your waist measurement don't match

Shorts and trouser sizes are taken from the garment, not from you, and most brands label them generously. Most men also wear shorts a little below the natural waist. So someone who normally buys a 34 will usually measure more than 34 inches around the middle.

Both columns in the chart lead to the same size, so use whichever one you already know.
